Missa pro nova aurora – Florida Pro Musica Concert May 23 at 4 pm in Tampa

May 14, 2010

Florida Pro Musica and Music Director Larry Kent present their Season Finale at Sacred Heart Church with a program of a cappella choral music on Sunday, May 23, at 4:00 p.m.  The featured work is John Paul Russo’s beautiful Missa pro nova aurora (“Mass for a new dawn”), which was dedicated to, and graciously accepted by, Pope Benedict XVI.

Also on the 60-minute concert is a beautiful love song by Eric Whitacre, plus two settings of American folk songs: one by University of Tampa composer-in-residence David Clark Isele, the other a beautiful arrangement of Shenandoah by Seattle-based composer Melinda Bargreen.  These American treasures are certain to send you into the summer with a lighter heart.  A wine and cheese reception with the musicians follows the 60-minute concert.
