Seraphic Fire Presents Stabat Mater in Concert

April 10, 2009

Seraphic Fire Presents PORTRAIT OF A MOTHER April 16-19,
Featuring Music by Bach, Vivaldi and Pergolesi

Concert Includes World Premiere of “Sedebat Mater” by
American Composer Paul Crabtree
Seraphic Fire, Miami’s Professional Vocal Ensemble, presents music on the theme of Mothers. PORTRAIT OF A MOTHER, a concert exploring different musical portrayals of motherhood, includes music by Bach, Vivaldi, Pergolesi, and a WORLD PREMIERE by living composer Paul Crabtree.

Seraphic Fire performs PORTRAIT OF A MOTHER with a focus on old and new.  Audiences will be transported back in time to 17th century Naples, Italy, to experience the most beautiful of Holy Week rituals – Giovanni Pergolesi’s sensuous “Stabat Mater” for soprano, countertenor and orchestra.  Also headlining this program is the WORLD PREMIERE of Paul Crabtree’s tongue-in-cheek “Sedebat Mater,” written as a companion piece to Pergolesi’s masterpiece.

Something some of your readers may find useful is the fact that tickets to Seraphic Fire productions are FREE to students, ten minutes before the start of performance. Just show a student ID at the door (assuming there will be seats available, which there usually are).
